One of my first stops at the Munich show was to find out who made the shiny red loudspeaker shown in an atrium room\u2014shown in the same room as the latest gargantuan Gryphon Commander preamplifier and Apex amplifier. The striking speaker was rotating on a round platform that you couldn't miss when you entered the room \u2026<\/p>\nREAR ARTICLE<\/a>\n\nPRODUCT PAGE<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> The three-way (with ribbon tweeter), ported Raidho TD3.8 is a speaker with truly excellent sound, whose conventional appearance and size do not reflect its exceptional performance. Priced at the very top of the high end, it looks a lot like traditional cone floorstanders, give or take a panel tweeter. And yet, as listening to it quickly makes clear \u2026<\/p>\nREAR ARTICLE<\/a>\n\nPRODUCT PAGE<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> Scansonic's MB6 B represents the brand as a premium-priced floorstander. It\u2019s what most people\u2019s idea of a high-end speaker is \u2013 with its tall, narrow and deep cabinet and sloping front and rear baffles. To most of us, it looks every part of the \u00a38,999 (per pair) design that it is \u2026<\/p>\nREAR ARTICLE<\/a>\n\nPRODUCT PAGE<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> It's the MB1B. The two initials abbreviate original designer Michael B\u00f8rresen, the final B Benno who \"significantly improved it\". Though less costly, the MB1 ups the X1t's on-paper ante with 2dB more sensitivity, an F3 lower by 25 cycles, high-gloss black or white lacquer and walnut veneer options plus a decidedly curvier cabinet whose cross \u2026<\/p>\nREAR ARTICLE<\/a>\n\nPRODUCT PAGE<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> This is a year heavy with exceptional loudspeakers in our reference stereo room at PF Central. Three great loudspeakers have made it here in 2020, in cavalcade. The Raidho TD 4.2, the subject of this reflection, actually arrived later in 2019, departing here in early spring.
